Minister for the Presidency,  Milly Babirye Babalanda has encouraged officials from all the districts of Busoga to make sure they take part in the ongoing preparations towards the forthcoming Kyabazinga royal wedding.

“You are part of the organizing committee at district level. Your duty is to make sure this historic event is given the vibe it deserves and also to see to it that everyone enjoys and feels the wedding,” said Babalanda.

She was on Sunday meeting district officials including RDCs, Deputy RDCs, LCV chairpersons, Chief Administrative Officers and Municipal Town Clerks at the Source of the Nile Hotel in Jinja city.

During the meeting, the leaders were excited to have been considered to participate in the preparations.

Last month month,  Kyabazinga William Gabula Nadiope IV as per the norms and values of Kisoga Culture participated in a mandatory introduction ceremony where he

was introduced to Mutesi’s parents in Mayuge district, which shall be preceded a royal wedding scheduled for 18th November 2023

where the Queen Mutesi shall be formally unveiled to the Kyabazinga subjects at Christ’s Cathedral Bugembe.

She will be referred to as ‘Inhebantu’, which is interpreted as ‘mother’ for all Basoga, the formal title to the Queen of Busoga Kingdom.

Babalanda informed the leaders that the success of the royal wedding lies entirely in their hands.

Babalanda unveiled the centenary bank account, coupled with both the Airtel money and MTN mobile money merchant codes, all registered under the name “The Kyabazinga of Busoga,” where funds from well-wishers across Busoga sub region and the entire world shall send their monetary contributions with ease.

“And we shall be reading all contributions on our radio stations. Whoever contributes shall be recognized by the top committee,” asserted the minister.

On collecting contributions from local investors, Babalanda said the central organizing committee had a special team assigned to visit the investors and requested the district teams to only liaise with the small business owners, civil servants and political leaders from village to district levels.

The leaders promised the minister their total support and made seven resolutions. Key among the resolutions was to mobilize everyone in their districts to make any form contribution towards the Royal wedding.

“Each district should go and mobilize. The LCV chairman can be the chairperson of the district committee with CAO as the treasurer while the RDC remains the chief mobilizer,” suggested Trevor Solomon Baleke, the Deputy RDC of Namayingo.

Baleke’s suggestion that was unanimously supported followed guidance from the LCV chairman of Kamuli,  Maxwell Kuwembula that there was need for all sectors at the district to unite and make a collective contribution for avoidance of contradiction.

A proposal by the Jinja RDC, Richard Gulume to use the media in popularizing the royal wedding was also adopted by the meeting.
