Police in Kaliro has arrested a 34-year-old father for allegedly murdering his 14 year old son, Busoga Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Michael Kasadha has said.
The suspect identified as Musamali Musa is boda-boda operator resident of Budini mission ward in Kaliro Town council, where the incident occurred.
The deceased has been identified as Wanzala Issah and he has been a pupil at Budini boys Primary School.
Preliminary findings suggest that on Tuesday the 31/10/2023 at around 0100pm at Budini mission Ward, Kaliro Town council in Kaliro district, Musamali assaulted his son as a way of punishing him on suspicion that he had stolen his 16,000/=. It is alleged that after the incident, the suspect secretly took the body to his ancestral home at Buyala- Budondo in Jinja city for burial.
Kasadha says that on receiving the information, the local leadership of the place of burial were contacted, leading to the arrest of Musamali, and he is under detention at CPS Kaliro.
The body was recovered and taken for postmortem at Jinja referral hospital mortuary pending further investigation.
Crime scene was visited and items of evidential value were recovered.
