A 34-year-old man identified as Paul Mwanje a resident of Katende zone, Jinja City Northern division (Bugembe) is behind bars on allegations that he has been defiling his own 14-year-old daughter.
Available information indicates that Mwanje a father of three has been taking his daughter to one of the lodges in Bugembe.
James Mubi, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson said in a press statement Sunday February 11, 2024 afternoon that Mwanje committed the unthinkable crime between January and February 2024.
“The victim has been medically examined indicating ruptured hymen and habitual penetration,” said Mubi.
According to lcoal residents of Katende zone, Mwanje has been over protective of the daughter and abusing any male person who tries to get close to the daughter adding that he will arrest any man who tries to “love” the daughter.
The deceptive behavior of the man prompted neighbors to probe his behavior and asking the girl in confidentiality until the girl disclosed everything the father has been doing to her.
“So the concerned neighbors informed police and immediately led to his arrest in the wee hours of February 11, 2024,” added Mubi.
The police has accordingly warned all hostels, lodges and happening places against allowing minors in their premises to have prohibited sex.
“Police is locating the lodge in question in Bugembe and the owner, manager and workers will be arrested and the lodge closed permanently because such misconduct is totally unacceptable in society. They are making money at the expense of the future of our children who are supposed to be protected from any danger or ill treatment,” the region police mouthpiece has said.
The mother of the victim went to UAE for “Kyeyo” in 2023 and left the three children in the hands of their father. That the father reportedly defiled the daughter seven times from the lodge in question in Bugembe and two times at the paternal home in Katende zone, Bugembe.
He’s being charged with aggravated defilement. He’s a parent with authority over the victim and the victim is below 14 years. The suspect is yet to be examined medically to establish his mental status and HIV status.
