Teachers of Primary Seven in Nakaese district have forcefully been subjected to sitting Primary Leaving Examination to ascertain their competence.

The teachers’ assessment has been ordered by the district Chairperson, Ignatius Koomu Kiwanuka, following poor performance of learners in the 2023 PLE results.

For fear of losing their jobs, teachers from the various schools accepted the test and were photographed sweating with the test.

It was by Wednesday March 13, 2023 still unclear whether the LCV chairman would hire examiners from other districts to mark the ongoing examination of teachers.

Koomu has for the last 6 years been consistent on threatening to take action against teachers to enhance academic performance.

The more than 40 teachers who were identified through the recently released PLE results for 2023, are currently undergoing assessment at Nakaseke Technical Institute.

Basing on the subject they teach and the 2023 UNEB results, each teacher is sitting for the same paper done by P.7 candidates in 2023.

Those who fail to achieve the required 60% pass mark will be required to undergo a refresher course.

“You can’t teach what you dont know”, said the LCV chairman.
