Aware that the youth are the most marginalized individuals, Busoga Kingdom, through the ministry of Youth and ICT, is organising a regional symposium named “Busoga Regional Youth Symposium,” aiming to foster solutions to the challenges of the young people in the region.

The youth are prone to opportunists making it hard for the souls to make wise decisions for a better future.

But the Busoga’s youths and ICT ministry believe that if gathered together, the young adults could strategize and forge solutions to their challenging issues in communities.

Owekitibwa Veronica Kagona, the state minister for youth and ICT in Busoga, says the Symposium could serve as a saviour to the young generation as it will bring them together for a wide range of topics.

Scheduled for August 2024, the one-week event will kickoff on Tuesday, August 6 to 12th, 2024, at the Kingdom headquarters in Bugembe, Jinja city.

The important symposium will attract over 20,000 youths across Busoga with topical discussions, including entrepreneurship, leadership, education, mindset talks, health, and environmental sustainability.

According to Kagona, the high-powered event will be a camp to address issues such as youth unemployment, gender equality, and social inclusion.

“We shall have expert speakers and facilitators who will provide insights and practical tools to support the growth and development of our young leaders in the region.
The Busoga Youth And ICT Ministry invites all interested individuals and organizations to participate in the symposium and contribute to the success of the event,” Kagona said.

The youths will have a distinct opportunity to network, collaborate, and learn from each other and also build partnerships, and create a unified voice for the youth in Busoga.

This year’s symposium emphasizes the theme, “Empowering and Engaging Young Leaders for a Better Busoga.”

Several activities, including medical camps, blood donation drives, environmental activities, panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions, will be featured in the symposium.

“The symposium will also provide a platform for young leaders to showcase their talents and share their success stories,” Kagona added.

She states that the symposium anticipated to be graced by the Kyabazinga His Majesty William Wilberforce Nadiope Gabula IV already commenced with activation activities across all the chiefdoms. Blood donation is the leading activity in the chiefdoms.

“We have so far covered Kigulu last week, and we are in Bunhole Bunhanumba on July 17 and in Bunha on July 19,” she noted.
