Police in Kampala have successfully arrested a notorious city robber known as “King,” after an extensive and long-standing manhunt.
In a statement released September 25, 2024, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, confirmed the arrest of Makumbi Ronald, alias King. His capture was made possible following a crucial tip-off about his whereabouts.
Acting swiftly on the information received, police launched an operation that led to the suspect’s apprehension. Upon his arrest, police recovered a bayonet and a stash of marijuana in his possession.
Owoyesigyire revealed that King has been linked to multiple cases of robbery and mugging in the Nansana policing area, which has been a hotspot for such criminal activities.
“King will undergo further interrogation and will soon be arraigned in court to face charges,” Owoyesigyire added.
The arrest brings relief to residents in the area, who had been living in fear due to the spate of robberies attributed to the suspect.
