The Jinja Road Police Friday August 15, 2025 handed over a suspected murderer accused of killing a woman at Cheers Public and Accommodation in Kabale District on July 29, 2025.
This follows his dramatic arrest on August 9th during a church service in Nakawa, Kampala, where he reportedly stood before the congregation and confessed to the gruesome act.
The suspect, Mwesigwa Clinton, 24, a clinical officer who had been volunteering at Hamurwa Health Centre IV and a resident of Hamurwa Town Council, Mitooma District, was immediately apprehended by law enforcement officers who were alerted by church members.
He is believed to have been the mysterious man who checked into a lodge with the deceased, Kobusingye Leonada, 45, a resident of Ahataba Village, Shebeya. According to investigators, Mwesigwa allegedly murdered her inside the room before fleeing.
After his arrest in Kampala, Jinja Road Police completed the necessary handover procedures and transferred him to Kabale Police Station to face murder charges.
Police spokespersons have confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the murder. Meanwhile, the body of the deceased was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for postmortem.
