Hajji Faruk Kirunda, the Special Presidential Assistant for Mobilization and Press and Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, has confirmed the appointment of Mr. Joseph Ssewava Mukasa as the Presidential Envoy on Buganda Affairs.
In a statement, Kirunda announced that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made the appointment, congratulating Mukasa and wishing him success in executing his new responsibilities.
“I wish to confirm that H.E. the President of the Republic of Uganda appointed Mr. Joseph Ssewava Mukasa as Presidential Envoy on Buganda Affairs. I congratulate him and wish him the best of service,” Kirunda said.
The appointment places Mukasa at the center of government engagement with Buganda, a region of immense cultural, political, and historical importance. His role is expected to enhance coordination, dialogue, and mobilization between the Presidency and leaders across Buganda.
Observers note that the appointment reflects President Museveni’s continued strategy of strengthening structured communication with key regions through trusted envoys, particularly in areas with strong cultural institutions.
Mr. Mukasa, described as an experienced mobiliser, is expected to support government outreach, political harmony, and policy communication within Buganda as part of broader national development and unity efforts.
