Minister for the Presidency, Hon Milly Babirye Babalanda on Friday June 16, 2023 commissioned a speed boat for the office of the Resident District Commissioner of Buvuma district.
The vessel is meant to be used by the RDC’s office in the island district during monitoring and supervision of government programs.
“It should also be used in mobilising the community for development,” said the minister.
Buvuma is a district coterminous with the Buvuma Islands archipelago in Lake Victoria and does not have territory on mainland.
To monitor government programs and mobilization in Buvuma, government officials including RDC and her Deputy cross from one island to another by water.
The team has been using commercial boats whose time of travel is always determined by the owners. This has been affecting monitoring, supervision and mobilization.
The RDC and her deputy lauded the ninister for loving and caring for her team and said their mobility is now made so easy.
The Minister expects RDCs countrywide to ensure the success of PDM and Emyooga and handle land matters which require mobility.
She has always instructed the RDCs and their deputies to follow up on every coin sent to their districts of jurisdiction for the development of wananchi.
