Bunyangabu County Member of Parliament, Davis Kamukama has Friday June 16, 2023 bee in Luzira prison where he was remanded over his alleged failure to pay a loan he received in 2021.
Kamuli was sent to the prison by the Chief Magistrate court at Mengo presided over, by HW Sharon Nuwaga under civil suit No. 0452 of 2022 in which he is accused of failing to pay Shs 29 million he borrowed from DAHU Investments at an interest rate of 10 percent.
At the time of being sent to Luzira, the MP’s loan had accumulated to Shs 69 million.
In the warrant of committal to Luzira, the Chief Magistrate directed the OC Luzira prison to keep Hon Kamukama imprisoned for a period not exceeding six months or until he pays the money.
Kamukama procured the loan after election, but sources say he could have spent it on ‘filling election gaps’.
The NRM flag bearer had a hot contest with former Defemce Minister, Adolf Mwesigye and Pateick Mulungi and NRM leaning independent.
