Retrieval of the massive wreckage of the truck container that plunged into the Nile at Karuma might take longer than expected.
Sources say it necessitates the use of a Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion heavy-lift helicopter to retrieve the truck given its weight.
Interestingly, the last recorded appearance of Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion heavy-lift chopper in Uganda was during the visit of former president of the United States of America, Bill Clinton.
Yesterday, the combined forces of marine rescue teams, representing various security agencies, made significant breakthrough when they successfully located the wreckage of the container deep in the waters of the Nile in Kiryandongo district.
The most difficult task now is how the located truck can be retrived from beneath the Nile.
Efforts are currently underway to locate the tractor head with the registration number UAT 113F, which was responsible for transporting the aforementioned container to South Sudan.
