The RDC reaffirmed government’s commitment towards supporting communities in the oil and gas area.

He said under Tilenga project alone, PAPs have undergone various livelihood improvement programs including skills training and acquisition of jobs.
“Our people have undergone training in how to engage in fruits tree farming, bee keeping and livestock rearing,” he said.
“I appeal to the local farmers to do the same so as to improve their standards of living through local trade with the oil and gas companies,” he said.
The Oil and Gas sector in Uganda is transitioning from exploration (and appraisal) to development and production, with a projected 20 billion US Dollar investment (for the up-stream and midstream investments), it is therefore important for different sector players to position themselves to benefit from the projects.
