The State HouseAnti-Corruption Unit in liaison with Kyoga East Regional Police on Wednesday July 5, 2023 arraigned before court 5 Police officers attached to Bukedea.
The officers who were remanded until July 27 2023, appeared before the Magistrates Court of Bukedea on charges of aggrevated robbery.
They have been identified as D/ASP Ehguloiti Alex, PC Akankwasa Onesmus, D/C Oriokot Simon Peter, PC Kamakoin Difas &PC Born Naibei.
It is alleged that on the night of June 4, 2023 the accused who were armed with SMG guns, broke into the house of Agume Alfred, a campaign agent of candidate Omagor Steven and stole Omagor’s Electoral documents & other property in order to bar him from being nominated in the recently concluded LCV by-elections in Bukedea district.
The investigators further landed on other police case files pending against D/ASP Ehguloiti Alex.
Ehguloiti, according to the files, committed similar crimes during the 2021 general elections.
According to those files of 2021, D/ASP Ehguloiti is suspected to have committed murder and aggrevated torture of two supects in police custody, who later succumbed to injuries inflicated on them by the D/ASP. Now these files have also been brought to court for Ehguloiti to answer.
