A 22-year-old man caught with nine stolen sheep escaped people’s wrath Saturday evening.
Yasin Drani a resident of Dilokata village in Ewafa sub-county, Obongi district was caught red-handed driving away 9 sheep from the compound of a 99-year-old man in the neighbouring Malanga village.
The angry residents who caught him wanted to lynch him but the police swung into action and he was saved from their wrath.
One of the residents living in Ewafa village, only identified as Sarah told this publication that it has become the character of Drain Yasin to steal things from the elderly in the area.
Drani is currently detained at Obongi Central Police Station as a police file on charges of theft of animals gets underway with investigations.
Obongi Resident District Commissioner, Samuel Mpimbaza Hashaka told the Eye Media that Drani – a habitual thief landed in the hands of vigilant residents.
The RDC advised the youth to engage in agricultural activities and join Governmt’s Parish Development Model other than stealing.
“Thanks to the community and the police for the vigilance and quick action,” Hasahaka said.
