Delegates of the war-torn Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) have denounced their Najjanankumbi based leadership of Nathan Nandala Mafabi (Secretary General) and Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat (the president) and subsequently named Kampala Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago their nterim president.
The resolution was unanimously reached upon by a delegates conference held at the offices of the founding FDC president, Rtd Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye on Tuesday September 19, 2023 along Katonga road.
During the same meeting, delegates also agreed on suspension of
the party’s national treasurer, Geoffrey Ekanya.
The conference was attended by the national party chsirman, Wasswa Birigwa and founding party president Dr Kizza Besigye, party spokesperson, Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda among others.
“Their deputies Harold Kaijja (secretary general) and Francis Mwijukye (treasurer) will perform the duties of these offices,” said Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, the FDC spokesperson in a brief announcement to the media on Tuesday afternoon.
The conference has also named an interim Electoral Commission to organize what Ssemujju says shall be free, fair and transparent internal party elections.
Nganda described as fraudulent the elections organized by FDC Electoral Commission chairperson, Boniface Toterebuka Bamwenda.
