At least 15 households are grappling with shelter following a heavy rainstorm that left residents homeless.
The heavy downpour devastated their houses and other properties including crops at Sityohe village in Buhemba subcounty, Namayingo District.
Authorities in the district have confirmed that evacuation of the affected families to the subcounty headquaters was successfully conducted.
Trevor Solomon Baleke, the Namayingo Deputy Resident District Commissioner (DRDC), said efforts are underway to seek relief from the office of the prime minister in Kampala and the ministry of Disaster Preparedness.
“We are currently keeping the victims at Buhemba subcounty headquaters as we wait for help,” said Baleke.
He called for urgent rescue as the temporary habitat is not sustainable to accommodating over 80 people who were affected by disaster.
He added that the office of Resident District Commissioner has taken full responsibility of ensuring safety of people who are currently battling with hunger as their foodstuffs were washed away.
