Zion Akantorana a P.2 pupil at Kigazi Primary was on Tuesday June 6, 2023 found dead and dumped near the neighbour’s pit lastrine.
Zion’s lived with her single mother, Charity Twikyirize in Kigazi village, Kakore parish Hamurwa sub county Rubanda district.
On Monday, Twikyirize left Zion in the neighborhood playing with fellow children.
At around 7:00pm Twikyirize called her daughter to return home to which the neighbor responded that she was going and the mother kept waiting but in vein.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson said that, moments later, Twikyirize walked to the neighbourhood to see why Zion was reaching home only to he told that her daughter left when she called her at 7:00pm.
“Then the mother went and just slept,” said Maate.
“So today Tuesday June 6, 2023 at around 6:00am, the neighbor identified as Richard Nsasiire was going for his casual work when he found Akantorana Zion’s body lying in a trench exactly at his latrine with multiple fresh bruises on the face, neck and knees,” he added.
