Police in Kayunga district have arrested two men for alleged attempt of illegal purchase of an AK47 rifle.
Rosette Sikahwa, the District Police Commander has confirmed this report.
Sikahwa told the media Monday afternoon that the duo was arrested from a lodge in Busaana town council where they had agreed to finish their illegal transaction.
“In an intelligence-led-operation where we got a top off that some people were bargaining to buy a gun, we deployed earlier and indeed these people came to buy the firearm,” said the DPC.
Without giving us more details, Sikahwa only disclosed that the buyer of the rifle was from Bugiri district.
“So we have the two two gentlemen in custody to help us in investigation.
We have opened up a General Enquiry File under reference number 25/2023 to uncover the underlying motives.”
