The Kumam cultural heritage headed by the paramount chief His Highness Won Atekerin Raphael Otaya has appointed the former MP Aspirant Kalaki District Samuel Eyenga as the first prime minister for the young cultural institution.
Eyenga served tentatively as the public relations officer for the institution till date of his appointment.
The government gazetted Raphael Otaya as the first Kumam cultural institution leader after about one year of his election in July 2022.
In an August 1st letter, Aggrey Kibenge, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Gender Labor, and Social Development, directed the executive director of Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation to have Otaya’s status as Kumam cultural head gazetted.
The directive is in accordance with section 6 of the cultural leader’s Act 2011, this comes after the installation of Otaya as cultural head for the Kumam speakers.
Shortly after the gazette, the cultural leader went on to name his cabinet as follows;
- Prime Minister: Mr. Samuel Eyengu from Kalaki
- Deputy Prime Minister: Mr. Kwar Wang Richard from Kaberamaido
- Deputy Prime Minister2: Mr. Paul Ediau. Ediau has contested in Kaberamaido for MP position since 2011, by the time of his appointment, he works with the tilenga oil project.
