Police in Namayingo are holding a 43-year-old man who allegedly burned his 12-year-old daughter’s fingers after asking him to pay her school fees.
The suspect is Henry Sida, a resident of Dohwe village in Buhemba Sub-county.
Only identifies as Nabwire, the young dropped out of school while in Primary Four when her father refused to pay her school fees.
It is reported that Sida abandoned his responsibilities as a father when he separated with his children’s mother on allegations of torturing her.
Namayingo Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr Trevor Baleke Trevor Solomon, confirmed Sida’s detention.
Sida’s irresponsible acts came to light after his chairperson LC1, Mr Charles Makhulo, reported the matter to the district authorities.
“We got a tip off from the areas LCI chairman, Mr Charles Makhulo, after Sida had burnt his child, and we went for him,” said Mr Baleke.
Mr Baleke said the security team who apprehended the suspect also brought the victim to Buyinja health centre IV, where she was admitted.
