Police in the West Nile city of Arua are looking for relatives of a P.6 girl for murder of her classmate whom they caught having sex with her on the Martyr’s Day.
This after the police got information that the girl’s relatives are the one who murdered Richard Waiswa, a pupil of Kova primary school.
The girl lover is also a pupil at the same school and class.
Josephine Angucia, the North Western police spokesperson says that Waiswa, a Lugbara by tribe and a resident of Nyayi cell, Kati Ward, Ayivu West Division, Arua City left home at night and went to visit his girlfriend as they had earlier agreed.
“When the deceased was in the act of sexual intercourse with the girl lover, he was caught by the relatives of the girl, who beat and burnt him, and inflicted multiple cuts on his head which led to his death,” Angucia said.
“After the deceased had died, it is alleged that they carried and dumped his body in the Oziava swamp which was discovered on 04th June 2024 at about 12:30 pm by the area L.C One Chairperson. This information was reported to police who accordingly opened a case of murder and started investigations into the incident,” Angucia explained further.
She said a team of police officers including the Regional Scene of Crime Officer West Nile Region visited the scene and properly documented it.
Angucia noted that the police officers later conveyed the body to Arua Regional Referral Hospital mortuary where postmortem was done, and the body was later handed over to the relatives for further burial arrangements.
However, she said the suspects involved in the gruesome murder of the teenager are still at large and effort is being put in place to bring them to book as inquiries continue into the matter under Ayivu West Division CRB 179/2024.
