Jinja — A chilling confession has rocked Njeru Division in Buikwe District, after suspects revealed that they were paid Shs 500,000 by an alleged Inspector of Schools, identified as Amina Mutesi, to strangle a young woman in a ritual murder meant to secure promotion.
According to a statement from Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, SP James Mubi, the gruesome crime unfolded in April 2025, when Amina Mutesi reportedly approached a local casual worker in her neighbourhood with a horrifying proposal: to help her procure a human being for ritual sacrifice.
The casual worker, enticed by the promise of a Shs 3 million deal, brought the matter to a fellow worker. Together, they lured another woman — Jessica Mutesi, a resident of Kikalamoja in Walukuba East, Jinja City — under false pretenses.
They sent her transport money, and once Jessica arrived, they took her to Amina Mutesi’s residence. Jessica was kept in the boys’ quarters where, according to the suspects’ confession, the three of them spent a night.
Tragically, on the following night, Jessica was allegedly strangled to death on Mutesi’s orders and buried within the premises.
Shockingly, after the killing, Mutesi reportedly paid the two men only Shs 500,000, far below the initially promised amount. This prompted the aggrieved accomplices to start pressing her for the balance — a trail of demands that eventually exposed the crime.
The breakthrough came in mid-May 2025, when the victim’s family received information that Jessica had been kidnapped and a ransom was being demanded. They reported the matter at Walukuba Police Station, triggering a full-scale investigation.
Through intense tracking efforts, key suspects were apprehended. Under interrogation, they made a willful confession, admitting they lured and murdered the victim under direct instructions from Amina Mutesi.
Police have since established that the gruesome act occurred within the jurisdiction of Njeru Police Station, and preparations are underway to hand over the suspects to Sezibwa Region Police for further case management.
Meanwhile, the Kiira Regional Police Command, led by SSP Charles Nsaba, has been widely commended by the public for the swift and professional handling of this disturbing case.
In his statement, SP James Mubi assured the public that the police remain fully committed to protecting citizens and cracking down on those who still criminally view human beings as sacrificial objects.
“We are enhancing a comprehensive community approach to address and prevent human ritual sacrifices,” SP Mubi stated.
