The State House Anti-Corruption Agency has recommended the interdiction of 28 senior local government officials in Isingiro, Buhweju and Mbarara City following investigations into alleged high-level corruption under the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign in the Nkore sub-region.

The officials, who include Chief Administrative Officers, engineers, Chief Finance Officers, senior administrators, procurement officers, health officials and other technical staff, have been recommended for interdiction to pave the way for independent investigations.

In Isingiro District, where the campaign was conducted on Thursday, August 6, 2026, eight officials were recommended for interdiction.

They are District Natural Resources Officer Bwengye Emmanuel, District Veterinary Officer Dr. Kasozi Bruhan, District Procurement Officer Kamwine Frank, Chief Finance Officer Byagagire Innocent, Principal Assistant Secretary Gumisiriza Aloysius, Chief Administrative Officer Alice Asiimwe Rushure, District Engineer Ayebazibwe Mishaki and District Commercial Officer Musinguzi Patrick.

In Buhweju District, following the campaign’s visit on Friday, August 7, 2026, 11 officials were recommended for interdiction.

They include Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Katambakyi Swizen, District Production Officer Nshemerirwe Flavia, District Health Officer Atukunda Prudence, Assistant Nursing Officers Byamukama John and Katushabe Aurellia, and midwives Musimenta Lilian and Tusasire Julian.

Others are Nsika Town Council Senior Assistant Secretary/Town Clerk Bainemugisha Gastone, Senior Education Assistant Twinomuhoozi Gilbert, District Internal Auditor Twinomugisha Charles and the District Physical Planner, whose name was yet to be confirmed.

In Mbarara City, nine officials were recommended for interdiction. They are Town Clerk Barekye Justine, City Commercial/Trade Officer Karakure Allan, Natural Resources Officer Niwagaba Sancho, Community Development Officer Kabeigarire Mirabel, City Health Officer Mugisha Longino, Finance Officer Kamugisha Dunant, Procurement Officer Atwine Edgar, Revenue Officer Samuel Rwakinanga and City Engineer Tumwijukye Ben.

Local Government Minister Hon. Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi said the State House Anti-Corruption Agency had recommended the interdictions to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Local Government to enable investigations to proceed independently and without interference.

Balaam stressed that the affected officials remain suspects and have not been convicted of any wrongdoing, adding that investigations should establish the facts while ensuring due process is observed.

“The fight against corruption and the campaign to protect public resources must continue. Uganda deserves accountable leadership, transparency and quality services for every citizen,” Balaam said.

The latest action forms part of the “Expose the Corrupt” campaign targeting alleged corruption, abuse of office and mismanagement of public resources in local governments.
