President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to grace Minister for the Presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda’s thanksgiving ceremony in Buyende District.
On August 29, 2026, Babalanda announced that the ceremony will take place on Wednesday, September 23, at Iringa Township Primary School in Budiope West Constituency.
The function, initially scheduled for September 5, was postponed due to what Babalanda described as unforeseen official duties.
The thanksgiving comes after Babalanda registered major political milestones, including her election as the directly elected Member of Parliament for Budiope West Constituency.
Her victory places her among the relatively few women legislators elected directly through open constituency contests rather than affirmative-action Woman MP seats.
Babalanda is also celebrating her reappointment as Minister for the Presidency, continuing her service in one of the country’s key government coordination portfolios.
According to the Minister, President Museveni will attend the ceremony as chief guest.
Babalanda thanked her supporters and invited guests for their patience following the postponement and apologised for any inconvenience caused by the change of date.
The thanksgiving is expected to attract government officials, political and religious leaders, supporters and residents from Budiope West and across Busoga.
