A gruesome ritual murder has been unearthed in Jinja after two casual labourers exposed former Jinja City Education Officer, Aminah Mutesi, accusing her of not paying them their agreed fee for helping her commit the crime.
The suspects, now in custody, told police they were hired by Mutesi to strangle a woman, identified as Jesca Mutesi, in a ritual sacrifice allegedly meant to secure personal favours and promotions.
They revealed that after carrying out the killing and burying Jesca’s body beneath the kitchen floor of Mutesi’s home in Nyenga, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District, they were only paid Shs 500,000 instead of the agreed Shs 3 million.
Frustrated over the unpaid balance of Shs 2.5 million, the duo began openly talking about the crime — leading to their arrest and triggering a major police investigation.
According to Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, SSP James Mubi, a joint operation led by the Kiira Regional CID Officer, SSP Milton Birungi Beigumamu, in coordination with technical experts including a pathologist, Scene of Crime officers, and Flying Squad operatives, proceeded to Mutesi’s residence after obtaining a court order authorizing exhumation.
On Thursday, the remains of Jesca Mutesi were successfully exhumed from Aminah Mutesi ‘s compound and transported to the City Mortuary in Kampala for DNA forensic analysis.
SSP Mubi confirmed that two key suspects are currently in custody at Njeru Central Police Station (CPS), following the official handover of the case file and suspects from the Kiira Regional CID office to Njeru Police.
He added that more suspects are being pursued and further arrests are expected in connection with the ritual murder.
The chilling revelations and today’s body retrieval operation have sent shockwaves through the community, with residents struggling to comprehend the horror that unfolded in their midst.
Police have assured the public that thorough investigations are ongoing and justice will be served.
