Shock gripped residents of Kilwanyi village in Kiruma Sub County Mubende District when unidentified people killed a man and his wife.

It is alleged that Abdallah Kayizi 53years, and his wife Milly Namutebi were attacked and murdered by a mob at their home on Monday 31st July 2023

Police in Mubende says the family of four was attacked by a mob of about thirty people at around 8:00am as they left their home.

Wamala Regional police spokesperson,  Rachael Kawala said that the mob left the couple’s two sons, Ssekamate Muzafaru and Ibrahim Kawuma with serious body injuries.

“A group of approximately 30 people led by Tumusiime Benjamin ambushed them, killing the husband and his wife and injuring their two sons who managed to escape,” she said.

The police has linked the gruesome murder to the long-standing land dispute involving an 8 square mile chunk of land situated in Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Subcounty, Mubende.

So far police has managed to arrest at least five members of the killer mob.

“These individuals are currently detained at Mubende CPS while efforts to identify and apprehend more suspects who were behind this gruesome murder continue,” Kawala said.

The crime scene has been examined, documented, and relevant statements from witnesses have been recorded to aid the investigation process.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Mubende Referral Hospital, pending the postmortem.

Mubende ranks high among the districts with high cases of land disputes.
