Police in Jinja has intensified search for a 51-year-old Fred Mitega for murder of his 40-year-old wife.
Mitega, according to the region police spokesman, James Mubi, allegedly smashed his wife’s death with an axe, killing her instantly.
The police has identified the deceased as Zaina Nakisige aged 40, saying the incident occurred midnight of January 27, 2024.
Pr James Mutume Muwanguzi who has allegedly been having an affair with the deceased has been arrested to help police in investigations.
Mubi says that preliminary inquiries indicate that the suspect, Mitega has been suspecting that his wife with whom they have been living together and having six children has been having extramarital affair with Muwanguzi of Buwagi, Jinja northern division, Jinja city.
The deceased’s body has been taken to Jinja main hospital mortuary as thorough prosecution guided investigations continue.
