The latest shocking details from Luzira Prisons elaborate on the gruesome murder of the 32-year-old Uganda Prisons officer, who was reportedly murdered by his dear wife, also a law enforcement officer.

Attached to the safety and security unit at Luzira Prison, the deceased was identified as No. 15877 L/CPL Wilfred Okori, a Lango by tribe and resident of Luzira Prison Barracks.

Allegations indicate that the deceased’s wife, No 78965 PPC Mercy Alowo, a 25-year-old police officer on attachment under CID in Kabalagala police division, destroyed the life of her spouse by stabbing.

Married for four years with only one 3-year-old daughter Pretty Apio, the couple development misunderstandings last Sunday, over money and phone challenges, quarrelling the whole day till evening when the husband resorted to throwing wife’s belongings out of the house.

The fight ensued, and during the shuffle, Alowo, now the suspect, grabbed a knife that was already in her arms and stabbed her opponent once in the chest.

Unfortunately, after falling down and asking for help, fellow prison warders rushed the deceased to the station staff clinic where he was pronounced dead.

According to reports, the Japadhola woman who could frequently visit her husband at Luzira prison barracks went for police training and left the child with her mother-in-law in the village and was recently passed out.

Detained at Jinja Road Police station, Alowo, before killing her husband, had gone for training for the Women’s Day parade at Luzira Prison.

The scene of crime was visited by SSP Julius Ahimbisibwe, the DPC Jinja Road police, together with D/SP Babiana Akongo (D/CID), a team of detectives, uniform personnel and Scene of crime officers.

The deceased body was conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem as inquiries proceed to establish the motives of the suspect.
