Many National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters in Busoga Sub-region continue crossing to ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) with the latest being former NUP flag bearer Luuka South Paul Kapasa, Samuel Musimbi, and Ibrahim Wandera among others.

The defectors were Tuesday April 30, 2024 received by Hon Capt. Mike George Mukula, the NRM Vice Chairman Eastern Uganda.

These join dozens that have already crossed from the opposition to NRM in recent weeks.

And the information reaching us from very reliable sources with NUP leadership is that many more youth are set to join the NRM only that their plan is to go in smaller groups.

Some of the NUP.foo soldiers say are tired of faking ask soldiers only to see resources being shared among their principal’s family members rather than the party leadership.

It is important to note that while hosted on Busoga one FM’s Cross-Fire, political talkshow moderated by Hassan Muwanga Njaka, the NUP principal, Mr Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alleged that the defectors were selfseekers.

“They just lost hope in the struggle. And many wanted positions, but they shouldn’t waste our time,” Kyagulanyi said over the weekend.

“That doesn’t mean that the struggle shall end because some colleagues have betrayed us. The struggle is always like that, and we shall not stop,” he said.

The “Kunga Kunga” coordinators are now tired of Red ballet, they are instead embracing the yellow bus ahead of the 2026 general elections.
