Police in the eastern district of Namisindwa are looking for the district councilor representing Tsekululu Subcounty Moses Waburoko on charges of assault.

Waburoko who was by Monday June 10, 2024 morning not at his home, is in hiding after assaulting John Kitutu the coordinator of Sarah Khanakwa, one of the aspiring Namisindwa Woman MP candidates.

The councilor doesnt support Khanakwa.

It is alleged in a police statement recorded by Kitutu that Waburoko on Thursday trespassed on his home in Bunabitu village, Tsekululu Sub County and start beating him.

Kitutu told the detectives as Namisindwa Central Police Station that his only crime for which the councilor assaulted him is his support for Khanakwa.

The councilor is facing charges of assault under SD11/06/06/2024{ASSAULT reported at Tsekululu police post.

Kitutu says that he got serious injuries on the whole body since Waburoko kicked him, twisted his neck and boxed him.

However, when contacted, Waburoko denied allegations of beating Kitutu over supporting Khanakwa.

He says that Kitutu has been meddling in his family affairs with the aim of trying to break it.

He adds that as a neighbor he called him with the aim of warning him to stop meddling in his family affairs but he instead beat him prompting him to respond in retaliation.

Sources quote Khanakwa as saying that she told Kitutu to report the matter to police for investigation.

She says that based on the statements of the two, it is difficult to get a good conclusion urging police to do its work.
