In what is emerging as a defining moment for the 2026 political landscape, Ivan Muluga, the newly nominated NRM candidate for Youth MP Eastern Region and Vice Chairperson of the NRM Youth League in Kaliro District, has come out boldly to drum up support for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s re-election bid.
Muluga, who was speaking at the annual St. Gonzaga Gonza Day commemorations held in Bugonza, Kaliro District, told cheering crowds that the youth of Eastern Uganda stand firmly behind President Museveni, citing his steady leadership and unmatched record of transforming Uganda.
“We believe in President Museveni’s vision and his ability to continue steering Uganda toward prosperity. The NRM has delivered, and we the youth must safeguard this progress,” Muluga said, attracting applause from fellow NRM youth leaders and pilgrims gathered for the religious event.
In what appeared to be both an endorsement and a polite wake-up call, Muluga urged government to accelerate interventions in underprivileged regions like Busoga and Karamoja, where poverty remains stubborn. He made it clear that for Uganda to achieve inclusive development, no region should be left behind.
“Busoga and Karamoja must receive special focus. We are calling for targeted programs that uplift our youth and communities,” Muluga added.
The young leader’s remarks have since been interpreted as a clear sign that the NRM’s youth machinery is being re-energized ahead of the 2026 polls, with fresh faces like Muluga taking center stage to defend the party’s legacy and champion the aspirations of millions of young Ugandans.
