KASESE – Police in Kasese District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a 35-year-old watchman whose body was discovered dumped in a septic tank at a hotel construction site in Muhokya Town Council.
The deceased has been identified as Naziru Akansinguza, a casual worker and resident of Bwenanule Cell, Muhokya Town Council, Kasese District.
According to the Rwenzori East Regional Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, the body was discovered on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at around 10:30 a.m. behind a hotel under construction belonging to Power Deals Co. Ltd, where Akansinguza had been working alone as a watchman.
Police say the incident is believed to have occurred between July 1 and July 4, 2026, along the Ishaka–Bushenyi Highway.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the owner of the construction site, Sarah Tuhaisomwe, who resides in Mbarara, had been unsuccessfully trying to reach the deceased by phone since July 1. Concerned after repeated failed attempts, she travelled to the site on Saturday only to discover that he was missing.
She immediately reported the matter to Muhokya Town Council Police Station.
Police officers, accompanied by the Fire Department, visited and documented the scene before retrieving the body from the septic tank. The remains were taken to Kasese Municipality Health Centre IV Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The motive behind the suspected murder remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
ASP Maate urged members of the public to refrain from acts of lawlessness and appealed to anyone with information that could help identify the perpetrators to report to the nearest police station.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
