The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has declared Fred Bangumya Rwakaizi and Stella Kiryowa as the party’s official flag bearers for the two vacant positions of Members of Parliament to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).
The declaration was made by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, following the conclusion of the party’s internal election process.
Bangumya and Kiryowa emerged victorious from a highly competitive field of 36 aspirants, earning the party’s endorsement to contest for the EALA seats.
The two will replace Hon. James Kakooza and Hon. Denis Namara, who vacated their EALA positions after resigning to contest in Uganda’s forthcoming national parliamentary elections.
Their victory marks the end of an intense internal race that attracted a large number of candidates seeking the NRM ticket.
As the party’s official flag bearers, Bangumya and Kiryowa will now represent the NRM in the forthcoming election for Uganda’s representatives to the East African Legislative Assembly.
