Government Chief Whip Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng has designated former Speaker of Parliament and Bukedea District Woman MP, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, to serve on the Committee on Government Assurance and Implementation.
The appointments were announced as part of the constitution of parliamentary committees for the new session.
The Committee on Government Assurance and Implementation is mandated to follow up on government promises, undertakings, and commitments made on the floor of Parliament and ensure that the Executive implements them.
In the Opposition’s allocation of committee leadership, Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake was designated Chairperson of the committee, while Soroti District Woman MP Anna Adeke was named Vice Chairperson.
Among, who now serves as the Woman Representative for Bukedea District, previously served as Speaker of Parliament before the commencement of the 12th Parliament.
The committee is expected to play a key oversight role by tracking the implementation of government pledges and holding ministries, departments, and agencies accountable for commitments made before Parliament.
