Police have recovered a pistol stolen during a violent robbery in Mukono District and arrested two prime suspects believed to have participated in the attack.
The breakthrough was confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, who said the suspects were found in possession of the stolen firearm and several other items allegedly looted during the robbery.
“We have recovered the firearm with 17 rounds of ammunition, as well as household items including three television sets, CCTV cameras, among others,” Kawala said.
According to police, the robbery occurred on July 1, 2026, at around 8:00 p.m. in Upper Nabuti, Mukono Central Division, Mukono Municipality, where armed assailants attacked a home and made off with several valuables, including the pistol.
During the operation, police also recovered a Toyota Noah registration number UAT 767K and a motorcycle registration number UMA 820GM, both suspected to have been used in carrying out the robbery.
Kawala said investigations are still ongoing and security agencies are actively hunting for other suspects who remain at large.
“We are still pursuing those on the run, and within a short while they will also be brought to book,” she said.
The recovery of the pistol and the arrest of the two suspects are expected to provide investigators with crucial leads as police seek to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack and dismantle the criminal network behind the robbery.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue sharing information that could aid the arrest of the remaining suspects.
