An 18-year-old student of Naalya Secondary School’s Bweyogerere Campus has died in a suspected suicide after his lifeless body was discovered hanging inside the boys’ toilet block.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 8, 2026, prompting school authorities to alert police, who immediately responded to the scene.

According to Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Public Relations Officer, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, detectives and Scene of Crime officers visited and documented the scene, recorded statements from witnesses, and conveyed the body to Mulago City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was seen entering the toilet block shortly before he was discovered.

Police also recovered a handwritten note believed to have been authored by the student. The note has been secured and is being examined as part of the ongoing investigations.

Authorities have extended condolences to the family of the deceased, friends, and the Naalya S.S. community as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident continue.
