Three senior officials in Bulambuli District have been interdicted over allegations of corruption, abuse of office and mismanagement of public resources.
The interdiction follows a directive from the Ministry of Local Government after concerns were raised during a meeting convened in the district by the Minister of Local Government.
The affected officials are the District Engineer, the Town Engineer of Bulambuli Town Council, the Town Clerk of Bulambuli Town Council, and the Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Mulongo Mohammed.
In a letter dated July 13, 2026, addressed to the Chief Administrative Officer of Bulambuli District, Permanent Secretary Ben Kumumanya said the officials had been accused of gross negligence of duty, abuse of office, mismanagement of public resources and possible financial impropriety.
“The issues raised in the meeting included gross negligence of duty, abuse of office, mismanagement of public resources and possible financial impropriety among others, which have greatly compromised service delivery in the district,” the letter reads in part.
The ministry further noted that some government projects inspected in the district were found to be below standard and pointed to possible breaches of several laws and regulations.
According to the directive, the officials have been interdicted with immediate effect to pave way for investigations by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and other relevant government agencies.
The interdiction was issued in accordance with Section (F-s) 14 of the Public Service Standing Orders, 2021.
The latest action comes amid growing public frustration over corruption and poor service delivery in local governments, with residents and leaders increasingly demanding accountability from public officials.
Investigations into the allegations are now expected to determine whether the implicated officials will face criminal charges or other disciplinary action.
