The State House Anti-Corruption Unit has arrested four senior officials from Kayunga District Local Government over allegations of selling government jobs to desperate job seekers.
The officials are currently being held at Kayunga Central Police Station (CPS) pending further investigations and possible prosecution.
Those arrested have been identified as Dr. Prossy Nalujja, Officer in Charge of Wabwoko Health Centre III, Ivan Kayemba, Secretary for Education, Dickson Ssebbowa, Secretary to the District Service Commission; ans Mr. Munhulo, the District Human Resource Officer.
In insider has told Eye Media that the arrests are linked to an alleged jobs-for-cash racket that has reportedly been operating within the district’s recruitment system.
Dr. Nalujja is alleged to have acted as a broker between prospective job applicants and district officials accused of orchestrating the scheme.
It is believed she received money from job seekers and allegedly delivered it to the officials responsible for influencing recruitment decisions.
The arrests have sent shockwaves through Kayunga District, where allegations of corruption and irregular recruitment practices have been the subject of growing public concern.
By press time, neither the State House Anti-Corruption Unit nor the district leadership had issued an official statement on the arrests or the specific charges the suspects could face.
However, sources indicated that investigations are still ongoing and that more arrests could follow as detectives widen their probe into the alleged syndicate.
More details to follow.
