Former National Resistance Movement (NRM) Vice Chairman for Eastern Uganda and senior government figure, Captain Mike Mukula, has joined the nation in mourning the death of veteran statesman and freedom fighter Gen. Moses Ali, describing him as a distinguished patriot whose legacy will live on for generations.
In a condolence message issued on Saturday, Mukula said he received the news of Gen. Moses Ali’s passing with profound sorrow and a heavy heart.
“It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I have received the sad news of the passing of my dear friend, distinguished patriot, freedom fighter, and statesman, General Moses Ali,” Mukula said.
He said the late Gen. Moses Ali devoted his life to the service of Uganda, noting that his contribution to the struggle for peace, national unity, stability and reconstruction would forever remain engraved in the country’s history.
Mukula described the fallen general as a courageous soldier, an astute leader and an elder statesman whose wisdom, humility and unwavering commitment to Uganda inspired generations of leaders and citizens alike.
On behalf of his family, Mukula extended heartfelt condolences to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Government and people of Uganda, the bereaved family of Gen. Moses Ali, the people of Adjumani District, the entire West Nile sub-region and all Ugandans mourning the country’s immense loss.
He urged Ugandans to find comfort in the remarkable legacy left behind by the late general, describing it as one built on patriotism, sacrifice, courage and dedicated public service.
“As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate a life lived with honour, duty and distinction. Uganda has lost one of her finest sons, but his enduring legacy will continue to inspire future generations to serve with integrity, selflessness and unwavering love for country,” Mukula said.
Mukula concluded his message with an Islamic prayer, asking Almighty Allah to forgive Gen. Moses Ali’s shortcomings, grant him His infinite mercy, admit him into Jannatul Firdaus, and give strength and comfort to his family and all Ugandans mourning his passing.
