Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has warned against organising a party for former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, saying those involved would be arrested.

On September 8, 2026, Gen. Muhoozi, who is also the Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, issued the warning through his official X account.

“There will be ABSOLUTELY no party for AAA. We shall arrest anybody involved in that nonsense! Forgiving someone does not mean they do not have unresolved cases,” Gen. Muhoozi wrote.

“AAA” refers to Ms Among, who was recently released from reported house arrest following a directive attributed to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Gen. Muhoozi did not disclose who was organising the alleged party, where it was expected to take place or the particular unresolved cases involving the former Speaker.

His latest statement, however, appears to clarify that Ms Among’s reported forgiveness and release did not necessarily clear all outstanding matters against her.

On August 25, 2026, Gen. Muhoozi announced that President Museveni had instructed him to release Ms Among from house arrest.

“Mzee has also instructed me to release AAA from house arrest. We shall do that as well,” he wrote at the time.

In another post, the CDF said Ms Among would not be prosecuted,  adding that she had made mistakes but President Museveni had decided to forgive her. State House had not independently confirmed the announcement when it was made.

Security personnel deployed around Ms Among’s residence were subsequently withdrawn, ending restrictions that had reportedly lasted for about three months.

Ms Among had reportedly been placed under house arrest in May as security agencies investigated allegations of corruption, abuse of office, illicit enrichment and money laundering.

Security agencies also searched her residences and other properties during the investigations. Vehicles, electronic devices and documents were reportedly taken for examination, although Ms Among was never convicted of any offence arising from the allegations.

The former Speaker previously denied allegations of corruption and maintained that she was being politically targeted.

Following her release, Ms Among thanked President Museveni and Gen. Muhoozi for restoring her freedom and said she was ready to continue serving the country.
