Barely days after assuming office as LC I Chairperson of Bamutakude Village, veteran journalist Solomon Serwanjja has delivered his first major development breakthrough by securing a commitment for safe and clean water for residents.

Serwanjja, who was elected during the July 28, 2026 Local Council I elections, immediately embarked on engaging development partners to address some of the village’s pressing challenges.

As part of the effort, he held a meeting with Salam TV and Salam Charity Managing Director Hajji Kaliisa, where he presented his vision for transforming Bamutakude through community-driven development initiatives. The discussions also explored collaboration under the Smart Village Initiative, which focuses on socio-economic empowerment and self-sustainability.

Following the meeting, Salam Charity committed to supporting the village with access to clean and safe water, a move expected to improve the health and welfare of hundreds of households.

Speaking after the meeting, Serwanjja welcomed the partnership, saying it marks the beginning of tangible service delivery for the people who entrusted him with leadership.

“Together, we shall make a difference in the lives of our people,” Serwanjja said.

Residents have welcomed the development, describing it as a promising start for the newly elected village leadership. Access to clean water has long remained one of the key needs in Bamutakude, and the latest commitment is expected to ease the burden on many families once implemented.

Serwanjja says he will continue mobilising partners to support projects aimed at improving livelihoods, expanding access to essential services, and promoting sustainable community development.
