Local Government Minister, Balaam Barugahara Ateenyi, has expressed gratitude to the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) leadership and supporters after they surprised him with a belated birthday celebration following the successful conclusion of the Mbarara Public Baraza.
In a message shared on his official X account on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Balaam thanked PLU Chairman Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and the entire PLU family for what he described as a warm show of love and support.
“In a special way, I thank my General @mkainerugaba and the entire PLU family for the wonderful belated birthday cake and the warm show of love and support. God bless you all,” Balaam posted.
The minister said the celebration came after the successful Mbarara Public Baraza, a government engagement that brought together political leaders, security officials and residents to discuss service delivery and other public concerns.
According to Balaam, the public baraza was attended by the Mbarara City Mayor, the Resident City Commissioner (RCC), the District Internal Security Officer (DISO), the Regional Police Commander (RPC), the Commander of the UPDF 4th Division, Mbarara City Woman MP Charity Kibaju and Bushenyi-Ishaka MP Nathan Itungo Bassajja.
The Mbarara Public Baraza is part of Balaam’s ongoing mobilisation and government outreach activities aimed at strengthening public engagement and accountability while bringing leaders closer to the communities they serve. It also intends to expose the corrupt.
