Police in Iganga District, in collaboration with the Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala, have arrested another suspect accused of impersonation and online fraud using the name of the Hajji Yasin Foundation.

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Kisambira Ali, a resident of Nampirika A Village, Bukaye Parish, Nakalama Sub-county in Iganga District.

According to police, Kisambira allegedly used several fake social media accounts to defraud unsuspecting Ugandans by masquerading as an affiliate of the Hajji Yasin Foundation.

During a search and subsequent interrogation, detectives recovered a Samsung A05 mobile phone from the suspect. The device reportedly contained eight active TikTok accounts linked to the suspected scam operation.

The accounts were registered under the usernames Ssentongoyasin46, Sengasarahonunylil, Sengasarah294, Sengasarah754, Natasha2026kar, Natashakarugile6, Namerejustine7 and Sengasahara2.

Police said the suspect is currently detained at Iganga Central Police Station and is expected to be transferred to CPS Kampala, where the case was initially reported.

Busoga East Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Micheal Kasadha said investigations are ongoing to track down other individuals connected to the online fraud ring.

He added that police have also launched a public awareness campaign aimed at sensitising Ugandans on the dangers of online scams and how to avoid falling prey to fraudsters.
