KALAKI – A total of 1,875 students have successfully completed patriotism training and passed out during a colourful ceremony held at Kalaki Secondary School, with leaders urging the graduates to become disciplined, responsible and patriotic citizens.

The passing-out ceremony, held on July 3, 2026, was presided over by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kalaki District, Chris Mike Okirya, and attended by the Assistant RDC, Ogolot, the Chief Administrative Officer, Olaboro, the Vice District Chairperson, the Deputy District Internal Security Officer (DISO), headteachers from the 14 participating schools, and other community leaders.

Addressing the graduates, RDC Okirya described patriotism as the love for Uganda, understanding the country, and appreciating the ideology of the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

He noted that the Constitution of Uganda, under the National Objectives and Directive Principles of State Policy, places a duty on every citizen to be patriotic, remain loyal to Uganda and promote the country’s well-being.

The RDC challenged the newly passed-out student patriots to uphold the values they had acquired during the training by remaining focused on their education, maintaining high moral standards and becoming role models in their communities.

He urged them to study diligently, engage in regular physical exercise, respect productive work, avoid premarital sex, respect others, exercise self-control, remain self-motivated, embrace self-sacrifice, demonstrate trustworthiness, promote democratic values, practice conscious discipline and uphold what he described as the correct ideology.

The patriotism training programme was organised by UPDF instructors, while the passing-out parade was commanded entirely by the student patriots, showcasing the leadership and discipline they had acquired during the course.

Leaders commended the participants for their commitment and expressed confidence that the training would help nurture a generation of responsible and patriotic citizens capable of contributing to Uganda’s development.
